Whether I’m working as an editor or a collaborator, my first priority is to listen to you so that I can understand your dreams and your goals for your book. Because it’s your book.

Here are some of the ways I can help take your work to the next level:

Writer / Collaborator

Ready to share your story, but not sure how? Or do you feel confident about the message and direction of your book, but simply lack the time to get it on the page? I can help.

As a seasoned collaborator, I’ve worked with authors from many different backgrounds and experience levels. My goal is the same with each project: to help you plan, write, and revise an excellent manuscript so that you can move forward with your publishing dreams.

Book Doctor

Finishing your manuscript is a tremendous accomplishment that should be celebrated. However, books often need some extra help before they’re ready to catch the attention of agents and editors—or before they’re declared acceptable according to the terms of a publishing contract.

Because of my experience at major publishing houses, I know what it takes to turn a good manuscript into a great book. I’m also excellent at salvaging manuscripts that are sinking or seem to be stuck in the mud. As always, I’ll work with you to create a finished product that matches your vision and reaches your goals.

Writing Coach

Are you serious about growing as a writer but uncertain where to start? Have critique groups and books about writing ceased to be effective in helping you deepen your understanding of the craft?

I’ve been in your shoes, and I understand your goals. As your personal writing coach, I’ll help you improve as a writer through a combination of manuscript critiques, on-the-page instructions, and direct phone or video consultations.

Editor

People think an editor’s primary job is to find mistakes. Instead, the best editors simply start with something good and help make it better. So, how can I help you make something better today?

  • Manuscript evaluation—I’ll read through the current version of your book and write up a brief assessment that highlights its strengths, offers a plan for improvement, and suggests options for publication.
  • Developmental editing (or substantive editing)—This is editing in the trenches. I’ll read through your manuscript multiple times, and I’ll put together a comprehensive plan you can follow to revise your manuscript chapter by chapter and page by page.
  • Concept development—Sometimes authors know what their book should be, but they’re not sure how to get there. I’ll help you identify the primary theme and purpose for your book, build a structure for developing that theme, and let go of content that is good but not great.
  • And much more.
